I've Been Served

I am so confused and I do plan on calling next week and getting help but for now I am hoping to just gain a bit of knowledge on the whole situation. I had a student loan in 1994. After college I travelled around doing odd jobs and had no permanent address. I had random contact with collection agencies over the years and made some payments with the last one being around 8 years ago. In 2005 I borrowed money from relatives to open a business. At this time they got the contact info for my business. The called me at work and I admitted to owing a debt but told them that I had just opened a business and was not able to start making payments. They called my business 3 times a day. Yelled at my employees to the point that two of them quit. They called me names and told me I was pathetic. When I asked the names of the persons calling me, I would call the company back and they would say that there was no one with that name working in the company. They would call screaming at the top of their lungs "I want my money!" The stress of opeing a new business and being contstantly harassed was too much and I refused any further contact, changed my numbers and marked any mail as 'return to sender'. I was recently contacted by Revenue Canada and told that I have student loans to repay. They have been sending me statements and I spoke with them on the phone regarding the harassent. They just send that it was unfortunate but that they were now dealing with it now. I have not made a payment to them as I was going to investigate the stats situation. Out of the blue, I was served legal documents taking me to small claims court for Scotia Bank Student Loans but with no mention of a collection agency. It looks as though the documents were filed by Scotia Bank. A day after I was served ARC called me direct and asked me to pay $10,000 to resolve this issue so that we don't have to go to court. When I started to speak of the harassment he hung up on me. I am so confused at this point in time. Should I reply to the documents?
